About OAT Futures

OAT Futures is part of OAT. We want to support every OAT student to make well-informed and aspirational choices for their future.

Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is one of the largest not-for-profit multi-academy trusts in England. Our aim as a charity, alongside our schools, is to help provide local children with a great education. We educate over 30,000 pupils across five OAT regions in over 40 schools – currently 32 secondary schools, six primary schools, four alternative provision schools and one special school. We are one of the longest established trusts and have been sponsoring academies since 2009. Our mission is to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.

High quality Careers Education is a key aspect of the Trust’s strategy and OAT Futures has been developed with the vision to enhance the careers related learning experiences of our young people, to make well-informed and aspirational choices for their future.

OAT Futures will create meaningful careers-related opportunities, educate students about their options and choices, and support the development of their employability skills.  Sitting at the heart of our vision is this innovative and inspiring careers portal, which aims to broaden horizons and raise awareness of the career opportunities available throughout England, thereby removing geographical knowledge barriers.

The first phase in the development of the OAT Futures careers portal focuses on maritime careers, as many of OAT’s academies are in areas of significant disadvantage, including deprived coastal regions.  With funding from the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) we were able to commission the development of the new careers portal, focusing initially on maritime careers, and building on our Maritime Futures Initiative, which integrates maritime learning and deep employer engagement into a mainstream secondary curriculum.

We plan to add hundreds of films, featuring many different careers sectors, to inspire our young people! We are very grateful to the Careers and Enterprise Company for their support.
