World builder and writing team leader

Elliot, former student at Ormiston Victory Academy, is currently the world builder and writing team leader at Rose Tinted Games. Elliot is also in his final year of an integrated master’s degree in computer science.

After Elliot left school, he decided to stay on for a year to work as a science technician and TA in order to save some money before university, splitting his time between the science and performing arts departments. Elliot has now been studying for five years to achieve this degree.

Elliot has been playing computer games since he was young and was inspired by the games he played, which were essentially an immersive story book. He wanted to be part of providing the next generation the kind of experiences that he had enjoyed when he was growing up. The biggest thing that helped his decision-making process was taking a year out to work full time; it gave him the perspective he needed to figure out what would make him happy in the long-term and what he wanted and needed to make him happy and comfortable in the future.

Elliot’s advice to other OAT students:

• You need to remember that the end goal is to get a job out of it; creative, stem or any other kind of vocation.
• Do you research and choose a pathway that offers the opportunity for industry experience directly in your fields, or fields related to it. The more experience and opportunities you can grab along the way, the better chance you will have of grabbing your first big break after graduation.
