Summary
- I must understand my audience and how they might receive communications. Drax has sites and offices in the UK, Canada, America, and Japan. Each of these has its own customs and language. Understanding this is central to getting messages across successfully.
- When I design a campaign, I need to be able to bring a story to life whilst informing, involving, and engaging colleagues, no matter their role in the business. Content that I write or edit for colleagues needs to conform to Drax guidelines on tone of voice.
- I travel across the UK to our sites and offices to network and meet colleagues on internal communication projects.
Sectors
I work in the People & Engagement team which is part of Group Internal Communications. Part of my role involves writing; telling a story so that my colleagues in Drax, no matter where they are based or what their job is, understand the message and feel involved, inspired, and engaged.
I write for our intranet; articles and general content. I am editor in chief of our monthly wellbeing e-newsletter, contribute to manager messaging, and write specialist emails on a range of topics to support colleagues.
I design digital and poster campaigns, both the artwork and the copy. I am a qualified copywriter. I author reports and contribute to higher level reports. Including Drax’s annual report, as well as the occasional external production.
I enjoy proofreading and editing and have a special interest in both audience reception and writing for online audiences.
My specialism is wellbeing and benefits – promoting positive mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing and linking each aspect to the benefits that Drax offers to colleagues, such as Vitality Private Medical Insurance, Peppy Health, and our Employee Assistance Programme.
