The maritime industry relies on information and communication technologies, IT systems add value to the maritime industry by connecting ships, ports and people.

Marine Biology

Marine biologists study a wide variety of aquatic organisms, from microscopic plankton to massive whales. Most marine biologists choose a specialty field such as phycology, ichthyology, invertebrate zoology, marine mammalogy, fishery biology, marine biotechnology, marine microbiology, or marine ecology.

Marine engineers are involved in the design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of auxiliary machinery and systems found in all kinds of ships, boats and offshore installations.

Maritime Marketing/Advertising provides advertising, marketing or public relations services to to communicate a companies’ product or services to consumers, clients, and the general public.

Shipbuilding

Shipbuilding is the construction of ships and other floating vessels. It normally takes place in a specialized facility known as a shipyard. Shipbuilders, (also called shipwrights), follow a specialized occupation that traces its roots to before recorded history.

Marine Tourism combines sailing and boating with vacation and holiday activities. It can be travelling from port to port in a cruise ship, or joining boat-centered events such as regattas.
